At a glance
Compare the scope of each rate before comparing the number. All amounts below are USD.
Scroll across the table to see both platforms.
| What matters | APIFleet | Vapi |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | $0.03 per connected AI minute Platform fee, billed per second | $0.05 / min Hosting fee; providers extra |
| Payment model | Prepaid usage. $10 minimum top-up. No monthly subscription or free credits. | Usage-based hosting. Optional paid success packages are available. |
| Cost scope | AI providers and carrier charges are additional. Customer-owned keys are paid directly to providers. | The public hosting rate is $0.05 per minute; model and speech-provider costs are additional. |
| Working style | Configurable assistants, tools, knowledge, browser tests, simulations and call logs. | A developer platform with API access, provider selection and simulation testing. |
Compare the platform fee, then the same provider stack.
Vapi is one of the closest alternatives to APIFleet’s approach. The useful starting point is the orchestration charge: $0.03 versus $0.05 per minute. That difference does not tell you the entire cost of a conversation. Match the model, voice, carrier, call duration and billing rules before comparing totals.
When Vapi may fit
Evaluate Vapi when its integrations, testing workflow or support packages are a better match for your team. A higher platform fee can still be worthwhile if it removes work you would otherwise own.
When APIFleet may fit
Evaluate APIFleet when you want configurable assistants, browser tests, simulations and call logs with a lower published platform fee and no monthly subscription.
APIFleet currently limits new workspace access. Existing users can sign in; contact us about a new project. Carrier accounts, standalone previews, file transcription and simulation caller/judge models require customer-owned credentials.
Compare the platform portion
This example holds AI provider and carrier costs outside both totals. Vapi’s published $0.05 hosting rate is compared with APIFleet’s $0.03 platform rate. It excludes optional packages and negotiated discounts.
Enter a whole number from 1 to 1,000,000.
- APIFleet platform
- $300.00
- Vapi hosting
- $500.00
- Platform difference
- $200.00
USD. The difference is for the platform component only, not the total cost of calls.
Two workloads to price explicitly
These hypothetical examples assume exactly 1,000 or 10,000 connected AI minutes. They calculate APIFleet’s platform portion only; model, speech, carrier, numbers and any other service charges must be added.
| Workload | APIFleet platform arithmetic | Vapi estimate |
|---|---|---|
| Pilot: 1,000 minutes | 1,000 × $0.03 = $30.00 | 1,000 × $0.05 = $50.00 hosting; providers extra |
| Operation: 10,000 minutes | 10,000 × $0.03 = $300.00 | 10,000 × $0.05 = $500.00 hosting; providers extra |
A bundled vendor rate cannot be compared directly to the APIFleet platform portion. We do not infer Vapi’s concurrency or seat limits from a minute rate; confirm them for your planned workload.
Run a one-assistant switching pilot
Before switching from Vapi, recreate one assistant, replay its tool requests, test interruptions and transfers, then move one controlled route with a written rollback. Use the voice-agent migration checklist and conversation test plan with the vendor-specific checks below.
What to test before switching
- Replay your tool calls and verify their request and response formats.
- Compare connected AI time, provider usage and telephone charges separately.
- Test interruption handling, transfers and failed tools on the same scripts.
There is no universal one-click import. Map prompts, tools, credentials and routing explicitly, then run controlled calls. Our gradual migration guide gives you a sequence with a rollback boundary.
